Video Poker Lingo
Like most casino games, Video Poker has a rich vocabulary. Learn the lingo, slang, names, terminology, or whatever you want to call it, here and look the part!
- Ace High A containg an Ace without a pair or better
- Aces Full A full house with 3 Aces plus a pair
- Bonus Video Poker a video poker game that has bigger payouts for bonus hands
- Bust A nothing hand
- Cycle The statistical chance of getting a winning hand over a certain period of time
- Denomination The number of a card (from 2(deuce), through to 10 , or Jack, Queen, King, Ace).
- Deuces 2īs
- Draw The cards drawn on the 2nd round that replace the discards.
- Double Up a double or quits bet on a winning hand. You must draw a higher card than the dealer to double your winnings
- Edge The payout in a game of video poker.
- Flush A hand with any 5 cards in the same suit (eg 5 diamonds)
- Flat Top A video poker with no progressive jackpot
- 4 of A Kind A hand with 4 cards of the same value (eg 4 Kings).
- Full House A hand with 3 of a kind, plus a pair (e.g. 222, AA)
- Garbage Hand A bust hand )see above). A dud. An ex parrot.
- Hold the cards you chose to keep aftre round 1.
- House The casino.
- Inside Straight 4 cards, where the card you need to make a straight is in the middle.
- Inside Straight Flush same as above, but for a flush
- Jackpot the highest payout win.
- Quads 4 of a kind
- Rank The value of a card, as opposed to its suit (eg 3 or 4).
- Royal Flush A best hand you can get: a Ten, Jack, Queen, King, Ace. Break out the champagne if you get this, you are going up in the world.
- Straight 5 cards, not of the same suit, but in a sequence.
- Straight Flush 5 cards of the same suit in sequence.
- Suit There are 4 suits: Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts or Spades. Also something you might wear if you worked in a bank or if you were a Lion Tamer.
- 3 of a kind 3 cards of the same value.
- Tilt To play like a nutter
- Wild Card A card that can make up a hand- it can represent any other card in the pack.
